Born out of a genuine love for acoustic music, comes Alleghany Moon. The band was formed by a chance meeting at a fiddler's convention in Alleghany County, late one moonlit night in July of 1999. Thus meeting under that full Alleghany Moon, we have our name. Being that it's members, Bill Joines, Cammie Collier , Scott Gentry, Chris Campbell and John Boulding come from varied musical backgrounds, their sounds has a blend of traditional bluegrass, the blues, jazz, western swing, old time and traditional country music.
Alleghany Moon will lead you on an emotional journey from romping blues, and foot stomping bluegrass, to quiet and soulful balllads. The effect is the stuff of great live performance. Aleghany Moon simply must be heard live to be fully appreciated.
